6 Months Old!

Wow, where has the time gone? Brandon turned 6 months old yesterday, and we cannot believe it! In some ways, it feels like he was just born last week, and in other ways, I cannot remember life without him. Remember this?

It feels like just yesterday!

At 6 months, Brandon laughs a lot, babbles, makes "motorboat" noises, can roll from back to front very easily, can sometimes roll from front to back (but struggles), reaches and grabs for objects, and definitely recognizes his mommy, daddy, soother, and bottle. He sleeps through most nights. He still sleeps beside us in our room in his bassinette, although he is getting too long for it, so we will probably be transitioning him to his crib in his own room soon. He loves to look at himself in the mirror, and at other babies. Here is Brandon and his little friend Chloe. On this day, he would not stop smiling and laughing when he looked at her:

He has also been eating solids for about a month now. So far he has liked everything we've fed him. He has tried: rice, oat, and barley cereals, avocado, pears, peaches, plums, blueberries, bananas, and spinach. I have been making all the baby food myself using local organic produce. It is so easy and so much healthier to just steam the fruits/veggies and puree them. Now that everything is fresh and in season, I have been making the baby food in bulk and freezing it in cubes, so we will have it through the fall/winter too.
Brandon also really loves being outside. If he is crying or fussy, taking him outdoors will instantly calm him down . Kieran, being the nature lover that he is, likes to take Brandon around and show him the gardens, trees, leaves, etc. wherever we are. I snuck a picture of the boys spending some quality outdoor time after work one day:

Being home with Brandon these past few months has been so much fun, I can't imagine not being with him every day. His 6 month birthday also marks the half way point of my mat leave, which makes me so sad. I have already started applying for some new jobs in Simcoe, looking for some part-time options in the hope that I may still be able to spend a couple of days a week with Brandon next year, or at the very least, find a job closer to home so that I can cut down on my commute and spend more time with my family.

Love the update! The photos of Kieran & Brandon in the garden, and you and Brandon are absolutely wonderful and are "keepers." It's great to hear what stages he's at now. I can't believe it's 6 months too! Congrats! : )
